Widely regarded as the most important composer of the 20th century, the most influential and beloved of all French composers, considered one of the fathers of modern music, Claude Debussy remains one of the most beloved composers in the classical music universe. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the composer’s death, University of North Georgia- Music Department is presenting one day Centennial Festival on Friday, October 19th, 2018, a rare opportunity to hear a great deal of his highly unique musical legacy composed in just 30 years. The Festival presents an opportunity to hear many of the composer’s masterpieces performed by students, music faculties and the guest artist.
The Festival starts with an afternoon master class, where UNG Piano students will present popular and familiar selections such as “golliwog's cakewalk”, Reverie (Dream) and more! The evening concert will feature Dr. Evgeny Rivkin – world renowned concert pianist and feature the complete set of 24 Preludes, Book I & II along with UNG faculty Dr. Joanna Kim playing Petite Suite. The master class begins at 4:00pm and the evening concert begins at 7:30 pm.This festival will take place in the Gloria Shott Performance Hall and is open to public.
