Guitar Classic:Rodrigio's "Concierto de Aranjez"

On October 9th and 15th, UNG guitar professor Dr. Philip Snyder will perform Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquin Rodrigo with pianist Vivian Doublestein. The Concierto de Aranjuez is one of the most popular classical guitar pieces of all time. Its middle movement is instantly recognizable, and has crossed over from the classical music world into the pop culture idiom due to countless cover versions by artists such as Andrea Bocelli and Miles Davis. Fans of Spanish guitar music will certainly not want to miss a chance to hear this piece performed live.

The October 9th performance will take place in Shott Auditorium on the UNG Dahlonega campus at 7:30 pm, and the October 15th performance will take place in the Ed Cabell Theater Lobby on the UNG Gainesville campus at 7:30 pm. All performances are free to the public.

Dr. Philip Snyder is a classical guitarist and cellist. He studied guitar with renowned guitar pedagogue John Sutherland, and holds a Doctorate in Guitar Performance from the University of Georgia, and a Master’s in Cello Performance. He is a founding member of two critically acclaimed chamber music ensembles, the Georgia Guitar Quartet and Revien, and has toured the nation with both groups. Equally at home on guitar and cello, Snyder’s rare ability to perform at an exceptional level on both instruments is often showcased in a single concert, as he is capable switching between them onstage.
