The UNG Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band Present “A Musical Salmagundi”
On Thursday, October 11, 2018, the UNG Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will present an evening of music representing a wide variety of composers and styles. Some notable new works on the program include Daniel French’s As One Listens to the Rain and David Del Tredici’s Acrostic Song. Standards of the repertoire are also represented with Flourish for Wind Band by Ralph Vaughan Williams and Esprit de Corps by Robert Jager. UNG Bands are humbled and excited to bring Dr. Linda Moorhouse to the podium as guest conductor for this special event. Dr. Moorhouse is the Associate Director of the University of Illinois School of Music. She also serves as the President-Elect of the prestigious American Bandmasters Association. Come see one of the giants of the wind band world work with our students! The evening will conclude with The University of Illinois March by John Philip Sousa, which will be played by the combination of both bands. The members of the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic band are UNG undergraduates representing a wide variety of majors. Both ensembles are under the direction of Dr. J. Ashley Jarrell. Admission is free for this 7:30 p.m. concert which will take place in the Carlos and Sandra Cervantes Concert Hall at Riverside Military Academy.
