Hot Glass for Valentine’s Day

Come make some hot glass for your Valentine. Florence Roberts will be teaching a beginner’s class on enameling at the Cannery. Enameling is the fusing of glass on metal, usually copper. The class will teach basic steps for the successful enameling on copper using the sifting technique. Each student will be given the opportunity to make three pendants: heart, butterfly and teardrop shapes. Students are encouraged, but not required, to bring their own design ideas. Simple shapes or overall designs work best with this technique, but experimentation is also encouraged. Examples of pendants done using this technique will be available for inspection. Because of the use of high heat for the process, no children will be allowed in the work area. The class fee, $60.00, includes all materials, and the use of a kiln.
